Update on SIS(Student Information System) Enhancement Initiative 11.20.24

Dear Faculty,

I hope this message finds you well.  As I will be unable to present an update on the SIS (Student Information System) Enhancement Initiative until December, I wanted to share some current updates to keep you informed.

The SIS Enhancement Initiative is a two-year project that is just beginning. Recently, we had an on-campus visit with Ellucian (Banner) consultants, and here are some key highlights from that meeting:

November 7 & 8: On-Campus Meeting with Ellucian (Banner) Consultants

  • Engaged with a diverse group of faculty, administrators, CIS, and staff for a comprehensive review of our student information systems.
  • Focused on setting project goals, identifying current challenges, and envisioning desired future states.

Workshop Highlights

  • Collaborated in small groups covering various system areas to identify improvement opportunities and change principles.
  • Explored existing systems, potential future initiatives, and strategies for enhancement.

Next Steps

  • Ellucian will review Vassar’s feedback and compile a preliminary document, to be presented to the core project team in December.
  • A comprehensive report will follow in January, marking the start of the two-year project, with regular opportunities for engagement.

Get Involved

  • Attached is a handout with a QR code linking to the SIS Enhancement Project website.
  • The website includes news, updates, governance details, crosswalks, project history, and past communications.
  • Volunteer opportunities and feedback submission forms will also be available on the site.

Community Engagement
This is a collaborative, community-driven project, and we look forward to broad participation across Vassar.  Please take a moment to explore the website and use the embedded forms to share any additional feedback or questions you may have.

Thank you for your time and your support of this important initiative. We look forward to working with you on this project soon!

Sincerely,
