REMINDER: Action Required by 1/30: SIS Release Impact Assessment Survey

On 1/16, the SIS Enhancement Initiative project team asked the community to complete an SEI release impact assessment survey. The email was formatted as a newsletter to make the information as digestible as possible. Read the complete email in the original formatting here.

As part of the SIS Enhancement Initiative and our transition from AskBanner to MyVassar (our AskBanner replacement), we are beginning preparations for the initial system transition planned for January 6 –11, 2027 (Wednesday–Monday).

Complete the Impact Assessment Survey by 1/30/26

This is the final reminder before the survey closes on January 30, 2026, so please complete the survey as soon as possible to ensure a smooth SIS transition in January 2027.

What to Expect During the 5-Day Release Window

Limited SIS data access: AskBanner will be inaccessible, and all Banner data will be “frozen” (no new or updated records) during the release window. After the release is complete, all information that was historically available in AskBanner will be found in MyVassar.

Temporarily disabled integrations: Most integrations will be paused to ensure data integrity during the release window. After the release is complete, integrations will resume with MyVassar.

We Need Your Help

To minimize disruption to your work next year in January 2027, we are asking each department and office to share or update documentation for all business processes you perform from mid-December through mid-January, especially those that involve or depend on:

Student records (e.g., transcripts, schedules, grades, academic standing)
Admissions and onboarding (including transfer students, international/visa processing)
Student accounts, billing, and payments
Financial aid, payroll, and HR activities
Housing, card access, athletics, and other student services
Any process using student data from AskBanner, Banner Admin Pages, Degree Works, or systems that integrate with Banner.

Our goal is to capture your processes exactly as they are today. There is no need to modify or redesign your workflows at this stage; we simply want to ensure we have full visibility to provide the right support and mitigation during the transition.

Please complete this survey to help capture information about your processes, and submit your answers by Friday, January 23, 2026.

What’s Next

Over the coming months, members of the SIS Project Team will contact your department to:

Review and validate the processes you documented in the Impact Assessment survey
Identify which activities fall within the January 6–11 blackout window
Flag any high-risk or time-sensitive tasks requiring special support
Discuss possible short-term workarounds, such as: Pre-pulled reports, Timing adjustments, Temporary manual processes, Alternate communication channels

These conversations will help us:

Finalize the blackout timeline and system availability Determine which integrations and services must be prioritized for restoration post-go-live Ensure essential operations—such as payments, transcript needs, academic standing reviews, visa processing, and onboarding—continue smoothly with minimal interruption

If you have any questions or if you already know of critical early-January activities that cannot be delayed, please let us know as soon as possible.

Thank You!

Thank you for your time and partnership. Your input is essential to ensuring a smooth and successful transition from AskBanner to MyVassar in January 2027.

Stay tuned for more updates, and don’t hesitate to share feedback for the new SIS platform.
